Joe Manchin is back to crush Democrat dreams. This time he is skeptical of Democrat attempts to change filibuster rules to pass elections bills.

Context: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York has said that he wants to bring election reform legislation to a vote and if Republicans filibuster Democrats will change the rules.

Manchin says that these consequential rule changes should not be done without Republican support.

Why this is important: A rule change for voting legislation could lead the way for many Republican wishlist items to get passed once they take power. Things like gun rights would then be on the table.

Democrats have also proposed only changing the filibuster for election legislation purposes, something Manchin also said was a no-go.
