Senator Joe Manchin has now openly stated that he is willing to support a liberal justice to replace Justice Stephen Breyer.

The Details: Manchin spoke about the potential process to replace Justice Breyer after it was announced the Justice would soon be retiring.

Manchin told West Virginia’s Metronews’ ‘Talkline’ that ‘Whoever he puts up will have experience and we’ll be able to judge them off of that. But as far as just the philosophical beliefs, no, that will not prohibit me from supporting somebody…Whoever he puts up will have experience and we’ll be able to judge them off of that. But as far as just the philosophical beliefs, no, that will not prohibit me from supporting somebody.’

When asked whether or not he would support a candidate who was more liberal than he is, Manchin said ‘It’s not too hard to get more liberal than me…So it would not bother me having a person who was sound in their thought process and been sound in their dispersement of justice and the rule of law.’
