Secretary of State Antony Blinken laid out a stark and disturbing prediction on Thursday regarding what it alleges are Russia’s plans to invade Ukraine.

The Details: Blinken claimed that “Russia plans to manufacture a pretext for its attack,” which Blinken claimed could be a violent or explosive event that could occur in Eastern Ukraine in the next several days or weeks which Russia could then use as an excuse to invade.

Blinken went on to describe what he believed a ground invasion would look like: Russian missiles and bombs will drop across Ukraine, communications will be jammed, cyberattacks will shut down key Ukrainian institutions” leading to a ground attack that will “advance on key targets that have already been identified and mapped out in detailed plans.”

According to Blinken the Russian war plans would also likely include an encirclement and siege of Kiev.
