Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D – N.Y.) is planning to hold a vote on Biden’s spending plan next year.

Context: A vote on the Build Back Better spending plan was recently delayed and received even more bad news when Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (D – W.V.) announced he would not support the legislation.

In a divided 50/50 senate, Manchin’s lack of support effectively kills the bill.

What this means: Schumer must think there is a change to change Manchin’s mind and get the bill passed if he is announcing a timeline.

Schumer is hoping that making Manchin vote on the bill will make him change his mind, saying that it will be different than voicing opposition on television.

Manchin has urged Democrats to start over on the roughly $2 trillion spending behemoth.
