Protests erupted across the U.S. yesterday in the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision. Pro-abortion protesters took to the streets of major U.S. cities like Washington, New York City, and Los Angeles.

While many of the demonstrations were peaceful, some got out of hand. The LAPD declared an unlawful assembly in downtown Los Angeles as some protesters were getting out of hand. Some protesters in Los Angeles managed to get onto the 110 Freeway and block traffic, and others clashed with police on an onramp.

In Rhode Island, a fight broke out between protesters and counter-protesters. A Twitter user who filmed the altercation recorded the confrontation and shared it online, saying, “There was one counter protester. Abortion rights activists at this #RoeVsWade rally outside the Rhode Island State House asked him to leave. A fight broke out. Police got involved.”

Protesters in Phoenix, Arizona, were alleged to have breached the state’s Capitol building. The Arizona Senate was evacuated from the building due to the alleged “security breach” while a vote was being held on an education funding bill. Phoenix Police fired flash bangs and tear gas into the crowd of protesters to disperse the protesters.

In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a group of protesters attempted to stop a truck driving through the area. These protesters were almost run over by the truck. Only one protester was reportedly hurt in this incident.

Fox News reported that some protesters went towards the homes of Supreme Court Justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Protests in Washington, D.C., were relatively calm compared to other areas of the country. However, many are attributing this to the early deployment of riot police.

Protests and potentially riots are expected throughout the weekend, and the Department of Homeland Security has even warned some churches to be on the lookout for acts of domestic terrorism. For example, a Catholic Church in California was warned about a potential “Night of Rage“ in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling. DHS agent Jesse Rangel warned the California diocese of an extremist group’s manifesto that called for an attack on churches after the Supreme Court ruling.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tx) predicted that the U.S. would see riots and acts of political violence from the political left after the Supreme Court ruling. “They’re going to engage in riots, they’re going to engage in violence,” Senator Cruz warned.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave a speech to protesters in Washington, D.C., and called for people to go into the streets.

Democrat Representatives marched from the Capitol building to the Supreme Court to protest the ruling on Friday.
