MSNBC anchor, Joe Scarbourough, said that Jesus Christ never had a view on abortion on a panel for “Morning Joe” that aired on September 9. He went on to claim that abortion takes care of the needy and helpless. His perversion of the words of Jesus Christ are apparent. He has twisted and miscalculated the Bible.
Jesus Christ did, indeed, speak about abortion. In fact, the Ten Commandments says, “Thou Shall Not Murder.” Though the Ten Commandments took place in the Old Testament, Jesus Christ repeats the same message in the New Testament, condemning murder. Abortion is murder. Jesus Christ called it what it is when he said, “Do Not Murder.” In Matthew 5:21, Jesus explicitly says, “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’”
Joe Scarborough claimed to know the Bible in the segment for “Morning Joe.” Yet he displayed his total ignorance of Jesus’ words and shared the message of perversion. Jesus Christ supports life, all life, from the time of conception until natural death. Jesus never once justified murder. The segment went on to say that abortions were happening in the “ancient” times of Jesus and that Jesus Christ never talked about it. But he did. He told us not to murder. It doesn’t get any clearer than that.
Joe Scarborough went on to say, “As a Southern Baptist, I grew up reading the Bible. Jesus never once talked about abortion, never once, and it was happening in ancient times, it was happening back in his time. Never once mentioned it and for people perverting the Gospel down to one issue, it’s heresy.”
We beg to differ. It is Joe Scarbourough who perverted the Gospel with his outlandish words. He claims to be Southern Baptist; he must’ve forgotten that The Southern Baptist affirmed in a 1996 resolution that on-demand abortions are inherently wrong and that all life is sacred. Joe Scarbourough needs to go back to Sunday school.
In the Book of John, Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) In the book of Matthew, Jesus says, “You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony.” (Matthew 19:18)
Mr. Scarbourough, we challenge you to re-read your Bible. It is riddled with life affirming messages and commandments. The Bible condemns murder, and thus, condemns abortion.
