Mitch McConnell is attempting to court West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin, saying the Senator does not have a home in the Democrat party.
Context: Manchin, a moderate, drew the ire of his party when he declined to support Joe Biden’s $2 trillion spending bill being pushed through congress.
Many Democrats have simply decided that if Manchin isn’t with them he must be against them.
What this means: Now, Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is appearing to court Manchin calling him “a man alone.”
McConnell said, “I think what Manchin is discovering is that there just aren’t any Democrats left in the Senate that are pro-life and terribly concerned about debt and deficit and inflation. So he feels like a man alone.”
Reports earlier this year claimed Manchin was considering leaving the Democrat party which he responded were “bulls***.”
