Walker benefitted from Trump’s endorsement early in his campaign, but now he says he’s angry at remarks Trump has made about Walker’s decision to run.

Before Walker announced his campaign, former President Donald Trump repeatedly hinted at the possibility and spoke with Walker about his potential.

Now, according to The Hill, Walker is denying Trump’s involvement in his ultimately successful primary election.

“One thing that people don’t know is President Trump never asked me,” Walker said in an interview on Revolt TV. “President Trump never came out and said ‘Herschel, will you run for that Senate seat?’”

“So, I’m mad at him, because he never asked, but he’s taking credit that he asked,” Walker added.

Trump boosted Walker for months, traveling to Georgia to stump for him in person and inviting him to speak at a Save America rally.

But Walker brushed off Trump’s role and pointed to his religious beliefs, appearing to imply he didn’t really want to run at all.

“I prayed about it,” he said. “And to be honest with you, I was praying that God would bring somebody else because I’m happy. My life is doing well.”
