Democratic California Rep. Robert Garcia appeared on CNN Wednesday and called for “actual weapons” against Elon Musk, suggesting it as a necessary measure to protect democracy.

In an appearance on “CNN News Central,” Garcia did not mince words and urged his fellow Democrats to escalate their approach towards what he perceives as threats to democratic values posed by Musk and his influence.

“Well he is a dick, and I think he’s also harming the American public in an enormous way. What I think is really important and what the American public wants is for us to bring actual weapons to this bar fight,” Garcia said when asked whether personal attacks against Musk were an effective strategy. “This is an actual fight for democracy, for the future of this country, and it’s important to push back on the chairperson of this committee.”

Garcia also targeted Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and criticized her call for decorum and bipartisanship.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene talks about having decorum, about bipartisanship. This is the person that lies more than anybody else in the entire Congress. If she is going to make a mockery of hearings, I want to make sure that us as Democrats are bringing that same level of energy and, of course, after those comments we went into exactly what Elon Musk is trying to do,” Garcia said.

Garcia then mentioned Musk’s attempts to dismantle key federal departments like Labor and Education, as well as consumer protection agencies.

“We went into exactly what Elon Musk is trying to do. Dismantling the Department of Labor, dismantling the Department of Education, dismantling all of our consumer protection agencies, and so it’s all important, but it’s also important to get the attention of the American public and call Elon Musk out for what he is and to make people know that Marjorie Taylor Greene is not a serious legislator, and she shouldn’t be treated as such,” Garcia added.

The Trump administration intends to significantly reduce the federal workforce, starting with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), following revelations of financial mismanagement and the agency’s global promotion of far-left causes. Musk is helping the Trump administration scrutinize government expenditures through the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk announced that he and President Donald Trump decided to place the USAID under the leadership of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said taxpayers must be confident “every dollar spent abroad furthers our national interest,” amid reports of non-cooperation from USAID staff.

Recent revelations show that USAID dispatched 65.5 million condoms, 9.8 million injectable contraceptives, and 334,000 intrauterine devices (IUDs) to support family planning initiatives abroad in the 2022 fiscal year, primarily targeting developing nations. Furthermore, USAID issued a $2 million grant to Guatemala to promote “gender-affirming care” and LGBTQ activism. The White House
