Press Secretary Jen Psaki addressed growing concerns over Biden’s new “ministry of truth”.

Psaki said during a press briefing that the board would address disinformation related to violent extremism or foreign influence.

“The mandate is not to adjudicate what is true or false online or otherwise,” Psaki told reporters according to The Hill. “It will operate in a nonpartisan and apolitical manner. It’s basically meant to coordinate a lot of the ongoing work that is happening … and the focus is on disinformation and threats to the homeland.”

The attempt at reassurance comes after a TikTok video resurfaced from the account of Nina Jankowicz, the board’s executive director.

The video featured her singing an adapted version of the “Mary Poppins” tune “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” with the lyrics changed to harp about disinformation.

Psaki reiterated that Jankowicz is highly qualified to lead such a board.
