In a recent address, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis taunted California Governor Gavin Newsom, for his apparent preoccupation with the Sunshine State. DeSantis boldly called upon Newsom to shed his hesitations and throw his hat into the ring for the upcoming 2024 presidential race, urging him to rise to the occasion and take on the current president, Joe Biden. This lighthearted banter sheds light on the dynamic relationship between the two governors and the ever-present buzz surrounding potential presidential contenders.

DeSantis stated:

“He has a real, serious fixation on Florida, but what I would tell him is … stop pussyfooting around. Are you going to throw your hat in the ring and challenge Joe? Or are you going to sit on the sidelines and chirp? Why don’t you throw your hat in the ring, and then we’ll go ahead and talk about what’s happening.”

“You know, it’s interesting. He’s got huge problems in his state, I mean, huge problems in his state. We all know that,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Fort Pierce, Florida. “You see it in San Francisco, you see it in [Los Angeles], you see it in the people fleeing. California, from its inception, gained population every single year until he became governor. California was probably the height of opportunity for middle class Americans for many, many decades in this country.… People were drawn there, and yet, he’s the first governor that’s overseen a massive exodus out of California.”

In a recent interview with Hannity, Governor Newsom expressed his eagerness for a potential debate against the prominent Florida Republican, fueling speculations of his entry into the 2024 White House race as a direct challenger to President Biden. With a resolute declaration of being “all in” for the opportunity.
