Republican Senator Rand Paul is now warning that that he will block the passage of a proposed bill that would support Ukraine and denounce Russia.

The Details: Paul said that he wants certain changes to the declaration before he allows it to pass: “We have some amendments to it. We believe that it should say nothing in this resolution is to be construed as an authorization of war and nothing in this resolution is to be construed as authorizing the use of troops into Ukraine.”

Because the bipartisan group backing the bill wants unanimous consent to allow the bill to pass quickly, Paul’s vote is more important than usual.

In addition to offering support for Ukraine the resolution demands that President Biden impose sanctions on Ukraine if Russia decides to invade.
