Last month, Tafari Campbell, the personal chef of the Obamas, was discovered dead in Edgartown Great Pond near the Obama estate on Martha’s Vineyard. According to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, the incident was a heartbreaking accident. Their spokesperson, Timothy McGuirk, confirmed to Fox News that accidental drowning was the determined cause of death.

Details suggest that around 7:46 p.m., Campbell faced challenges staying afloat near Turkeyland Cove. Another paddleboarder, present with him during the ill-fated event, saw the tragic moment he submerged and didn’t resurface.

The former president’s chef was at Martha’s Vineyard during the time of Campbell’s drowning. But neither Barack nor Michelle Obama were at their residence when the tragedy struck. Still reeling from the shock, the Obamas shared their grief in a statement on July 24.

“Tafari was a beloved part of our family. When we first met him, he was a talented sous chef at the White House – creative and passionate about food, and its ability to bring people together. In the years that followed, we got to know him as a warm, fun, extraordinarily kind person who made all of our lives a little brighter,”
