Daniel Goldman, a former federal prosecutor, declared he is running in the state’s newly drawn 10th Congressional District.

Goldman served as House Democrats’ general counsel during the first Trump impeachment and intends to make it the basis of his campaign.

According to NBC, Goldman made the announcement during an interview on the program “Morning Joe”.

“I have fought Donald Trump and the Republicans before and I spent a decade fighting crime in New York City. I am running for Congress to lead the fights for our democracy, our fundamental rights, our safety, and our planet itself.” Goldman said.

The district is rated deep blue, meaning the primary’s winner will almost certainly be the ultimate victor. As a result of the absence of an incumbent, the race has drawn a crowd of candidates.

Along with Goldman, voters will consider former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Representative Mondaire Jones.
