House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy said he will be considering removing Democrats from some House committees if the Republican Party wins back a majority.
Background: In 2021, House Democrats voted to remove multiple Republicans from their committee assignments.
First, Democrats voted to remove Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments.
In November, House members voted to remove Rep. Paul Gosar from his assignments after he posted an anime video to his Twitter showing him attacking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Joe Biden.
What Happened: During an interview with Breitbart, Rep. McCarthy once again threatened to retaliate against Democrats if Republicans win back the House.
“Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on committee. But this new standard which these Democrats have voted for — if Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the private sector, there is no reason why he should be given one to be on Intel or Homeland Security. He will not be serving there,” McCarthy said.
Democrats Being Targeted:
–Ilhan Omar, House Foreign Affairs Committee
–Adam Schiff, House Intelligence Committee
–Maxine Waters, House Financial Services Committee
–Eric Swalwell, House Intelligence Committee
