Multiple killed and injured in shooting attack in Hadera.
Two Israeli border officers, both just 19 years old, were killed and twelve others were injured Sunday evening.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on Telegram shortly after news broke.
Two undercover officers who were eating at a restaurant nearby managed to kill the shooters. Security officials say the shooters were Islamic State operatives from Umm el-Fahm. People connected to the attackers were arrested soon after the attack took place.
The attack comes during an unprecedented regional meeting between four Arab foreign ministers and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Blinken is attempting to reassure Israel and its Gulf Arab allies as the Biden administration pursues a renewal of the Iranian nuclear deal.
Blinken issued a statement from his Twitter account condemning the attack.
We condemn today’s terrorist attack in Hadera, Israel. Such senseless acts of violence and murder have no place in society. We stand with our Israeli partners and send our condolences to the families of the victims.— Secretary Antony Blinken (@SecBlinken) March 27, 2022
