The bodies of hundreds of civilians were found as Russian troops withdrew from towns around Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admonished the Russian forces as murderers and rapists as the extent of the killings emerged.

The corpses of what appear to be civilians line the streets in many towns outside of the capitol with many seemingly executed. Associated Press journalists report seeing a group of nine bodies in civilian clothes who appeared to have been shot at close range. At least two of those had their hands tied behind their backs.

Over 100 civilians were found buried in mass graves in Bucha, sparking global outcry from Western leaders. President Biden called for a war-crimes trial and promised additional sanctions against Moscow.

French President Emmanuel Macron called for additional sanctions on Russian oil and coal, despite the hardship it would bring to Europe’s economies and people.

“It is very clear today that there are clear indications of war crimes,” Mr. Macron said on French radio.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov denied the allegations, accusing Ukraine and the US of creating a “stage-managed anti-Russian provocation.” He called for a meeting of the Security Council in response.
