Monica Crowley spoke at CPAC in Orlando where she warned the former first lady would be a formidable foe to the GOP.

Crowley was the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Public Affairs in the Trump Administration. According to her theory, Obama has been setting herself up to run since she and her husband left the White House in 2017.

“She spoke as a [Democratic National Convention] keynote speaker in 2020, she wrote her autobiography and did a 50-city tour, she has massive Netflix and Spotify deals, and she’s got a voting rights group alongside Stacey Abrams.”

A recent Hill-HarrisX poll put Obama high on the list of potential candidates in 2024 if Biden chooses not to run. She placed second behind Vice President Kamala Harris. Crowley, however, highlighted Harris’ gaffe-laden first year and pointed back to Obama.

“If [Democrats] were to run Michelle Obama, that would put us in a very difficult position,’ she said. “They’d reach for a candidate who is completely plausible, very popular, and immune to criticism.”

“For all of these people who say, ‘Michelle Obama isn’t political, they’re making too much money now,’ keep a very close eye on her because her trajectory is exactly what Barack Obama did before he ran for president and what Bill and Hillary Clinton both did.”

Despite Obama’s insistence she wont run, Crowley warned the crowd to be ready for a surprise.
