The suit concerns a 2015 altercation with protesters outside of Trump Tower.

The protesters, who are suing the Trump Organization and the former president for damages as a result of the altercation with his security team, were demonstrating against comments Trump made about Mexicans during his campaign.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal lawyer, recently said the Trump directed his bodyguard to “get rid of” the protest group. Trump testified under oath that he was not aware of the incident.

“They asked me questions, and I answered them honestly and truthfully, and the truth does not benefit Donald,” Cohen told reporters after Monday’s deposition.

Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison in 2018 for actions taken during his role as Trump’s “fixer”, including facilitating secret payments to women alleging affairs.

He has since turned on his former boss and cooperated with investigations into his business practices.

The civil trial regarding the protesters’ lawsuit will begin June 22nd.
