Several people have now tested positive after attending the dinner.
Trevor Noah’s opening joke was more like a premonition. “The nation’s most distinguished superspreader event” has at least one more positive test to claim.
CBS CEO George Cheeks is the latest of several high profile attendees to develop COVID after the event.
Cheeks’ case represents the most significant risk to President Joe Biden yet, as Cheeks was seated between the unmasked President and First Lady throughout the night.
He is reportedly asymptomatic, fully vaccinated and boosted, and tested negative the day of the dinner.
Other positive attendees include Antony Blinken, the secretary of state, and several journalists who shook hands with Biden during the dinner.
George Cheeks, the president and chief executive of CBS, tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday, just days after sitting beside President Biden at the White House Correspondents Dinner, the network confirmed on Friday. https://t.co/aaNDFTnadk— Jesus Jiménez (@jesus_jimz) May 7, 2022
