Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah has declared his intention to retire once his term concludes. Romney has taken heat in his most recent term for being a ‘RINO’ and not fully committing to Republican causes. The senator said he believes it’s the right moment for new political figures to take the lead, noting that he would be in his mid 80s if he were to be reelected. The comment could be seen as a shot at Joe Biden and Mitch McConnell but many believe Romney would have been defeated if he was to run again.

He posted to Twitter on Wednesday:

“I have spent my last 25 years in public service of one kind or another. At the end of another term, I’d be in my mid-eighties. Frankly, it’s time for a new generation of leaders. They’re the ones that need to make the decisions that will shape the world they will be living in.”

This is a developing story.
