The new board was revealed during Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ Wednesday testimony.
The so-called “Disinformation Governance Board” has been established to combat “disinformation” during the 2022 midterms, according to Fox News.

“The goal is to bring the resources of (DHS) together to address this threat,” Mayorkas said. He added that the board will focus on disinformation being spread to minority communities.
Backlash from Republican politicians has been fierce. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) referred to the board as a disgrace and issued a list of questions for Mayorkas to answer during his next testimony.

The Department of Homeland Security has not issued any comments on the board at this time.
