In a speech at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland on Saturday, Biden dramatically altered his rhetoric on Russia.

President Joe Biden declared in his speech that Russia President Vladimir Putin should no longer lead his country.

“For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,” Biden announced at the end of his address.

It represents a significant departure in the rhetoric towards Russia up to now. US officials have repeatedly said removing Putin from power was not their goal.

“For us, it’s not about regime change. The Russian people have to decide who they want to lead them,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said earlier this month.
