Former Attorney General William Barr is reportedly in communication with the committee.

First reported by Axios, two sources say Barr is in discussions to provide formal testimony before the panel. One source said he would likely cooperate.

Two sources told CNN that Barr has “tentatively agreed to give sworn testimony behind closed doors.”

Last fall, vice chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) and committee lawyer reportedly met informally with Barr at his home. A source said the meetings concerned communication between Barr and former President Trump before and after the 2020 election.

The development is part of a leadup to the committee’s planned and highly publicized eight public hearings to be held next month.
