Former president Donald Trump is facing increased backlash after hosting Kanye West, also known as Ye, and white nationalist Nick Fuentes for dinner at Mar-a-Lago last week. Both West and Fuentes have been accused of antisemitism with Fuentes even being labelled as a ‘Holocaust denier’ and white supremacist. Trump posted that he knew West was coming for dinner but that the other guests surprised him:
“This past week, Kanye West called me to have dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Shortly thereafter, he unexpectedly showed up with three of his friends, whom I knew nothing about. We had dinner on Tuesday evening with many members present on the back patio. The dinner was quick and uneventful. They then left for the airport.”
Trump’s team tried to cover up the dinner with Fuentes at first, denying the former president met with Fuentes at all when reports first emerged. One long time Trump advisor told NBC, “This is a f—ing nightmare. If people are looking at [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis to run against Trump, here’s another reason why.”
Trump’s former ambassador to Israel also voiced his concern over the dinner, “To my friend Donald Trump, you are better than this. Even a social visit from an antisemite like Kanye West and human scum like Nick Fuentes is unacceptable.”
