An All-Female Crew
With months of preparation behind them, the crew of the Super Bowl 57 flyover is making history for a reason. To celebrate 50 years of women flying for the Navy, this crew will be highlighting and celebrating the achievement Sunday afternoon.
According to azcentral and Jacqui Drew who will be piloting the F-35C Lighting II said,
Members of the flyover team all serve in tactical aircraft squadrons, and Drew said she and the other pilots are skilled at flying within feet of each other and making precise calculations about geography and speed — maneuvers they’ll use Sunday.
How Have The Ladies Gotten Ready For This Moment?
Before the planes even take off this all-lady crew has spent months training. They have to be safe and well-maintained. Engineering goes in, and each person on the crew has to do their routine tasks to keep the whole fleet up in the air and under the procedure. When they do take off the crew has to make sure they hit time on target – which requires them to do math. And significant delays would mess up the whole plan, and could even change the flight path. In case anything goes wrong, there will be three backup planes in the air. But this is their job and they are ready to do it. And to celebrate this milestone in the Navy.
