Context: Cuomo was formerly forced to resign in disgrace amid a criminal probe into his unwanted sexual advances on young female staffers. It came after the New York State Legislature was poised to impeach and remove him while Attorney General Letitia James’ office released a scathing report on his alleged sexual impropriety.

Why it Matters: This trend of not prosecuting Cuomo will mean he essentially walks free despite the allegations.

In one instance in Westchester County, a female trooper told investigators that after she asked the governor if he needed anything, he responded by asking her if he could kiss her upon arrival at his home.

What People Are Saying: “In both instances, my office has determined that, although the allegations and witnesses were credible, and the conduct concerning, we cannot pursue criminal charges due to the statutory requirements of the criminal laws of New York,” Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah said in a statement.
