Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds ripped Democrats for resorting to “fear-mongering” and “gaslighting” Tuesday on Fox News.
In an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Donalds criticized Democrats attacking former President Donald Trump in an effort to distract from what he described as the failures of the Biden administration. Donalds pulled no punches in his criticism, pointing directly at Vice President Kamala Harris and claiming she lacks any real accomplishments to discuss on the campaign trail.
“I expect nothing but fear-mongering from Kamala Harris because that’s all she has. She can’t talk about the border. She broke it. She can’t talk about the economy. She wrecked it. She can’t talk about foreign policy,” Donalds told Laura Ingraham. “It’s a mess. And she can’t even talk about her job with Joe Biden over the last three and a half years because he’s not even allowed at this rally, which is 200 yards away from the White House. So all she can do is fear monger against Donald Trump.”
Donalds characterized Harris as attempting to reclaim a narrative of change, despite the track record of the administration in which she’s played a central role. In his view, Harris’s current campaign fails to resonate with voters seeking practical solutions.
“All she has is word salad. But Donald Trump is the person who will fix America and make America great again. So expect the fear-mongering, expect the projection. That’s all you’re going to get,” Donalds continued.
Donalds further argued that Democrats’ strategy lacks authenticity and relies on undermining Trump’s character.
“They were joy and vibes three weeks ago. Now everything is attack Donald Trump, call him Hitler, call his supporters fascists. We were at Madison Square Garden, Laura, it was great to see you there. It was a fantastic night. You had people like myself, Vivek Ramaswamy, Harry-O, the founder of Death Row Records,” Donalds explained.
“We spoke at that rally. Do you think the Nazis would let two black guys and a guy of Hindu descent speak at a rally at one of theirs? Absolutely not. But that’s all they have. The constant fear-mongering and gaslighting is enough,” Donalds said.
Harris called Trump a fascist during a CNN town hall just days before the election. Responding to CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Harris referenced warnings from Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, and others who have cautioned that Trump’s return to office could lead to authoritarian rule.
