After Tweeting about the COVID-19 vaccine in January 2022, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was banned from Twitter. The move by Twitter was ban a sitting Representative felt dangerous to many, meanwhile many couldn’t see past their disdain for the highly controversial politician, and chose to go along with Twitter’s decision to ban Greene.

Her post included stats from Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), which is trusted by many. However, the system which is decades old and run by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), took a harsh decline in public opinion, as many on the left stopped believing the data they provided.

In a surprise move, Twitter, with Elon Musk now in the role of CEO for the company, decided to reverse Marjorie Taylor Greene’s permanent ban.

While @MTGreenee, Greene’s personal account was banned from Twitter, her official account as a Representative, @RepMTG, was not banned. Her official representative account has not violated Twitter’s old strike policy, however, that hasn’t stopped many on the left from calling for her account to be banned anyways.

When Marjorie Taylor Greene was banned in January 2022, Katie Rosborough, a Twitter spokeswoman said:

“We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy,”
