Benjamin Netanyahu has been sworn in as Israel’s prime minister again along with cabinet of staunch right-wingers. The new government has promised to expand Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank. Netanyahu, a political veteran, has faced charges he denies regarding civil rights and territory disputed with Palestine. His allies include the Religious Zionism and Jewish Power parties, which oppose Palestinian statehood and LGBT rights.

But recently, Netanyahu has pledged to promote tolerance and pursue peace. His goals include ending the Israeli-Arab conflict,  thwarting Iran’s nuclear program and building up Israel’s military capacity.

His government secured 63 of a possible 120 parliamentary votes in a confirmatory ballot, before the cabinet was sworn in.
