The Pentagon has announced that the U.S. military has shot down another spy airship that was flying in territorial waters over Alaska. In his announcement, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said, “I can confirm that the Department of Defense was tracking a high altitude object over Alaska airspace in the last 24 hours out. The object was flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet and posed a reasonable threat to the safety of civilian flight. Out of an abundance of caution and the recommendation of the Pentagon, President Biden ordered the military to down the object. And they did. And it came in inside our territorial waters.”

At this point the Pentagon announced they don’t know the exact source of the balloon but what one can assume it is possibly another Chinese spy balloon. Three Chinese balloons have been spotted in the Americas over the past week and the balloon which was shot down last weekend came down from Alaska. The aircraft was shot down by F-22 fighter jets and there is currently a recovery operation underway to collect debris.

This is a developing story.
