Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady announced on Wednesday morning that he is “retiring for good” in an emotional video posted to his Twitter account. Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion who holds every major NFL passing record and is widely considered the greatest ever football player. Fans may remember last year that Brady also announced his retirement only announce his return less than two months later.

“Good morning, guys. I’ll get to the point right away,” he said in the video. “I’m retiring for good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time. So, when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first so. I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year.

“I really thank you guys so much to everyone single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors… I can go on forever. There’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream.

“I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Brady is set to join the FOX Sports booth as an analyst in a  10-year, $375 million deal which is one of the most lucrative TV deals ever.

“Tom Brady will be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play in the NFL,” commissioner Roger Goodell said after Brady retired in 2022. “An incredible competitor and leader, his stellar career is remarkable for its longevity but also for the sustained excellence he displayed year after year. Tom made everyone around him better and always seemed to rise to the occasion in the biggest moments. … It has been a privilege to watch him compete and have him in the NFL.”
