Two House Democrats sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asking him to take a formal stance on whether Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh “directly lied” to the Senate Judiciary Committee during their confirmation hearings.

Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ted Lieu (D-CA) issued the letter, saying at least two conservative Justices “misled the American people during their confirmation hearings.”

“We must call out their actions for what they were before the moment passes, so that we can prevent such a mendacious denigration of our fundamental rights and the rule of law from ever happening again,” they write.

The letter cites Kavanaugh’s testimony that Roe “is settled as a precedent” and Gorsuch saying he would have “walked out the door” if former President Donald Trump had outright asked him to overturn Roe.

It also quoted Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) who have publicly stated they feel misled by the two Justices.

While the letter doesn’t specify what action the Representatives want taken should Schumer make a formal determination on the matter, AOC has already called for the two Justices to be impeached.

Schumer has not addressed the letter at this time.
