Former Vice President Mike Pence will travel to the border and deliver remarks on Monday joined by other officials. His trip comes amid speculation he is more seriously considering a 2024 bid for the White House.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels will brief Pence in Sierra Vista, Arizona on Monday morning before accompanying him to a section of the border where the barrier wall ends, according to The Arizona Republic.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (R) will also visit the border with Pence.

The Arizona Commerce Authority will play host to a crowd of attendees in Phoenix later that day, where Pence is expected to give a speech on immigration.

The border has been a key issue of focus for Pence as he wades back into the election cycle. Earlier this year, he released a 25-point policy agenda calling for the border wall to be fully completed among other measures.

His move away from former President Trump as they both consider 2024 runs has also become increasingly clear cut. In the hotly contested Georgia primary where Trump’s hand-chosen gubernatorial candidate Perdue suffered a crushing defeat, Pence had endorsed the eventual winner, and Trump nemesis, incumbent Governor Brian Kemp.

Neither men have made any official statements of their intention.
