Despite plummeting popularity polls and multiple gaffes during previous speaking engagements, Democrats believe donors are looking for in-person fundraising events with the President and Vice President.
Due to the pandemic, Biden only recently held the first in-person fundraiser of his presidency this month. Harris has been slightly more prolific, appearing at two fundraisers in the past week.
“Donors small and large have been looking to the White House for a leadership role in building these much-needed resources,” said Jon Reinish, a Democratic strategist.
Biden is scheduled to next appear at two Democratic National Committee events in Portland and Seattle.
The DNC has been raising money at a lightning pace over the past year. However, it still lags behind the Republican National Committee. In the first quarter of the year, the RNC raised $47 million while the DNC fell short at $42 million.
