She says Biden has dropped the ball on the progressive issues that got him elected.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) thinks President Joe Biden is facing a “collapse” of support among young people and left-wing Democrats.
She says he has failed on progressive issues, specifically calling out his campaign promises on canceling student debt.
“It is Biden’s power and ability to cancel student debt, and nobody else’s,” she told New York 1 News’ Errol Louis.
AOC, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have called on the president to cancel up to $50,000 of student debt. Biden could use his executive authority to do so but has declined the option thus far.
“We need to acknowledge that this isn’t just about middle of the road, increasingly narrow band of independent voters, but, this is really about the collapse of support among young people, among Democratic base, feeling like they worked overtime to get this president elected and they aren’t necessarily being seen,” she said.
“I do think that time for the administration is running out.”
