Fox News announced that veteran cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski was killed while filming outside of Kyiv.

Zakrzewski was working with correspondent Benjamin Hall, who was injured and remains hospitalized. Reportedly, the pair’s vehicle came under fire while they were newsgathering just outside of the Ukrainian capital.

The circumstances are nearly identical to those that killed American filmmaker Brent Renaud and injured his reporting partner, Juan Arredondo, just two days earlier. The two were on an assignment for Time Studios documenting refugees in a suburb of Kyiv when their vehicle came under fire.

Fox News said in a statement about his death:

“Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for FOX News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us. His passion and talent as a journalist were unmatched. Based in London, Pierre had been working in Ukraine since February. His talents were fast and there wasn’t a role that he didn’t jump in to help with in the field – from photographer to engineer to editor to producer – and he did it all under immense pressure with tremendous skill.”

This story is breaking and will be updated as more information becomes available.
