Climate-conscious Americans should be fortunate for a Trump presidency for more reasons than one, but top among them is the reality that President-elect Donald Trump’s victory is certain to lower energy costs for all.
Unlike President Barack Obama, who promised in his war on clean coal that U.S. “electricity prices will necessarily skyrocket,” and the Biden-Harris administration, which imposed costly Environmental Protection Agency regulations to increase the price of natural gas, Trump is committed to reducing every American’s electricity rate and putting savings back into the pockets of families across the nation.
Indeed, Trump understands that the threat to Americans’ pocketbooks was caused by the Biden-Harris administration’s green energy spending spree, made worse by the Orwellian Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) which passed without any Republican votes. He will need Republican congressional help to reduce electricity rates and revitalize the economy.
Trump is willing to challenge the notion that wind and solar “green energy” usage will save people money and instead point to the reality that the cost of such energy sources is at record highs. In the United Kingdom, Germany and Denmark, for example, wind and solar energy will soon cost citizens significantly more than American electricity rates. High energy costs are deindustrializing Germany, causing tens of thousands of layoffs. Trump understands that vibrant growing economies require affordable, reliable energy such as fossil fuels — coal, oil and natural gas—which consistently provide over 80% of the world’s energy.
Trump will undoubtedly unleash the U.S. coal, natural gas and oil sectors from President Joe Biden’s anti-fossil fuel ideology by lifting the Biden halt on LNG export projects, unleashing tens of billions of dollars in high-paying job opportunities and boosting our economy. As he might put it, our economy will benefit “bigly.”
Companies currently prohibited from drilling for oil and harvesting natural gas will have the freedom to do so on federal lands under a second Trump presidency. They will pay royalties and taxes for ground-sourced energy, giving the Treasury needed money.
On an international scale, Trump will likely reinstate energy sanctions on Iran and Venezuela, two of our global enemies, and stop their efforts to destabilize their neighbors and we will replace their output with American energy. He will also take steps to help our allies abroad, including European nations, end their dependence on Russia energy sources. Our future president will face tough resistance when he attempts to stop trillions of dollars from being spent on wind and solar and building the expensive transmission wires they need. If Trump discontinues support for costly offshore wind projects, which cost Americans between five and fifteen times more than generating electricity via traditional energy sources, marine life will flourish and Americans will save more money. China, which benefits from manufacturing 80% of the equipment needed to fuel the “green” agenda, will no doubt have complaints over Trump’s energy spending freeze. Indeed, accomplishing these ambitious energy goals will come with opposition from our nation’s loudest climate alarmists.
The fact is that for decades, climate propagandists have used the mainstream media to misrepresent extreme weather events as bigger, more frequent or worse than they truly are. In addition, social media platforms block evidence, shadow ban, or outright cancel people for posting facts that contradict their climate narrative. Biased climate journalists constantly warn Americans that a gently warming planet since 1850, the end of the Little Ice Age (propagandists call it preindustrial times), will produce disaster due to increased levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. Yet, in every instance before then, weather events as terrible or worse occurred in the same locations, when CO2 levels were lower.
The truth is that a slightly warmer and much greener world with more CO2 is good for plants, animals, forests and humans. In fact, nearly every food crop worldwide has increased harvests and yields. A NASA scientific study reports the earth is 35% greener than 40 years ago — and it is getting greener as more CO2 is added. CO2 acts similar to airborne Miracle-Gro. Yet, Biden forced a misleading climate-change ideology into every corner of the federal government.
Trump has an obligation to root out every climate ideologue from our nation’s highest positions so they can’t muck up pro-American energy policies and keep driving up costs through regulations. Oh, and finish the Keystone pipeline.
As President John F. Kennedy said, “a rising tide lifts all boats.” Over time, this will cut inflation, lower energy costs, boost economic activity, create jobs and benefit all Americans.
Stopping the “green” graft is a big task. Trump is up to the job.
